From a small school,  Jantar has grown into a large, respectable institution and, with a young, educated and hardworking team, has become one of the best and most successful foreign language schools in Croatia. Over the course of twenty-five years our students have collected more than 20,000 Jantar diplomas, and about 2000 Cambridge Assessment English certificates. According to the results of these internationally recognized exams, our students are among the best in Croatia. At Jantar, we are constantly working to raise the quality and standards, so we were awarded the "Croatian Quality" label among the first schools in Croatia, but this is not the end of our successes. Our motto is "teaching is a work of heart", our maxim "into a world without language boundaries", and our message is "we have dreams and a vision and we go forward"!

Being part of the first generation of Jantar students allowed me to study molecular biology in the US in the late 1990s. During my graduate and postgraduate studies, I fell in love with education, and upon returning to Split, I took over managing our family school. Language knowledge opened the door for me worldwide, and supporting the idea of education being a fundamental pillar of society my life goal is to contribute to the education system as much as I can.

Moving from Canada, where I was born and raised, was not a small step, but it was certainly made easier when I got a job as a teacher and native speaker of English and French 15 years ago at Jantar. Today, as a teacher and director of studies, it gives me the greatest pleasure to see the progress and success of each student. My goal is to bring students closer to international standards of language competence so that they can easily get through their studies or in the business world. I think we are on the right track!

Becoming a teacher was never considered or seen as a job, but as a vocation. The love of children and a desire to widen their horizons and awaken the joy of gaining knowledge is immeasurable for any teacher. I still believe that teachers and their students can change the world for the better, and there is nothing more beautiful than creating a society of knowledge, reason, humanity and kindness through language learning.

I have always loved foreign languages, and this job gives me the opportunity to share that love with others. The best feeling is to teach and to help students realize their own potential. Language learning is not only about adopting rules, words, and linguistic constructions - it is also a touch with another world and another culture.

People say: “As many languages you know, as many times you are a human being". Nowadays, foreign languages skills are as important as mother tongue literacy. Foreign languages help us study, find a job, travel, communicate with people all over the globe and I am happy to be a part of students’ learning process.

Ever since first grade I’ve known I wanted to become a teacher because I loved writing on the blackboard. Later, I fell in love with foreign languages. I love working with children and being a part of their transformation into great people. After 17 years of working at Jantar, my students are like a family to me and being a teacher here is my dream job.

After graduating from Law School, I became part of the Jantar team. I started to gain experience in the field of education because I believe that it is fundamental to society, and I want to contribute to this field. 

I am happy to see the success and satisfaction of our students, knowing that our team has made every effort to help each student.

In our mother tongue many words come from different languages. There are a lot of words from Greek, Latin, English, French, but also from German. We are polyglots without even knowing it. People say that German people are very punctual, is it true or is it just a stereotype? We can learn about this and many other topics in our German classes. Let's start together! 

Why learn German? Long sentences, a huge amount of grammar rules, words that can't even be pronounced …

As your teacher, I want to work with you to break these unjust stereotypes. Words like Kopfino, Schnapsidee, Luftschloss hide little stories. Let me tell you about them and let’s start discovering the secrets of German language together. Let's remember that multilingualism is expanding our horizon and enriching our world!

Let's start with something simple: one German word that puts a smile on everyone’s face - Oktoberfest, we all know that one, don't we? :)

Learning a foreign language is not an easy task, but by learning them, we enrich our lives. It is true that children are quicker to memorize and have the ability to learn effectively, but adults have a broader range of general knowledge and better logical reasoning, which can make language learning easier. It's never too late to learn. Learning a foreign language takes time and effort, but in the end it is well worth it. It is important not to be afraid of making mistakes, because we learn from them. This is what I strive to teach my students. Remember, knowledge is power.

It is always a pleasure to be available to help my colleagues, our current and our future students. I'm glad to meet new people, hear their wishes and be in the right place to give them the information they need.

I have been learning languages since preschool, and they have always played an important role in my education and life. Language knowledge opens the door for new people, experiences, and travel, which is why learning a foreign language is an experience that I would recommend to anyone. I enjoy my job because it allows me to convey and share my love for English in a fun way.

Knowledge of foreign languages opens a window to the world. As we learn languages, we get to know other cultures, customs, habits, we change and we grow. Acquiring English that is native to more than 400 million people and lingua franca to the rest of the world, we are building bridges across the globe, and beyond.
