Announcing new course: Developing Responsible Global Citizens

As of September 2021, Jantar school offers its students of all ages new courses run according to an innovative curriculum called Developing Responsible Global Citizens. The curriculum was developed through a project of cooperation between several foreign language schools within the International House organization, in which Jantar employees also participated.

The program was created in response to the need to adapt the topics, content, methodology and methods of communication to 21st century students in all forms of education. While in most countries mainstream education is still seriously lagging behind in addressing this issue, we are aware that such adaptation is necessary to ensure the best possible teaching process for our students.

Course concept

The future of our planet lies in the hands of our children and in order for them to be equipped to face and tackle the problems of today and the future, it is imperative that we as educators help to develop global citizens.

A question often asked – What is a global citizen?

“A global citizen is an individual who is aware of the world and has a sense of their role in it.”

With the rapid advancement of technology, creativity and innovation are essential 21st century skills both in and out of the classroom.

So what can we do?

As teachers, we at Jantar strive to nurture and encourage:

  • collaboration through group work activities
  • compromise and problem solving skills
  • applying knowledge learnt in the classroom and hands on activities to the real world
  • promoting diversities of identities and cultures
  • awareness of and active participation in projects that address global issues such as environment, peace and conflict, poverty, energy
  • the use of high-tech, such as VR and coding as well as STEM based activities

As a result our students:

  • learn to become confident individuals
  • become responsible members of the community
  • respect and listen to the opinions of others
  • think critically and make informed choices that not only affect them but the world they live in
  • become successful learners
