Discover how our students participated in English language course in Ireland through Erasmus program

Travel and education are key elements of personal development and Erasmus program offers opportunities for uniting the two.

Erasmus is the largest EU program aimed to support education and it contains several distinct program areas. Key Activity 1 provides grant opportunities for mobility of individuals for educational purposes; in other words, it provides opportunity for individuals to travel to different European countries and take specific courses. 

In 2021, Jantar received Erasmus accreditation for 2021 - 2027 program period. That means we were recognized as an institution with an excellent continuous professional development (CPD) policies, procedures and opportunities for our teachers and staff. Accreditation allows us easy access to funds for our CPD program.

In the past, these funds were only available for CPD of our staff. However, as of 2021, we are allowed to include our students into the program as well. According to program rules, these students must have "limited access to education", which includes:

• students with limited access due to economic, social, cultural, geographical or health reasons
• migrants
• students with disabilities

This year, four of our students from the island of Vis and Dalmatian "Zagora" received a unique opportunity to travel to Ireland, where they completed English language and culture course at the International House Galway. All of their expenses were covered by the Erasmus grant which included:

• airline ticket for Split - Dublin - Split trip
• transfers from Dublin to Galway and back
• six night stay in Galway
• five-day English language course with accompanying materials
• private educational day trip to notable landmarks
• per diems for food and other expenses
